We have a lot going on this fall and want to keep you up-to-speed on all that is going down in Quail Holla this fall. It’s a new year and we have a new yearly theme: Doubting Towards Faith. Basically, we all doubt: doubt God, doubt the church, doubt the Bible, and even doubt ourselves. But our doubt can take us either away or towards faith, depending on how we deal with our faith. As one of the books we’ll be taking a look at tells us, doubt isn’t toxic to faith, silence is (Can I Ask That?). So we’ll be tackling a lot of questions this year with the hopes of providing answers and ways to find answers on your own. But what about this fall? Here’s what we’ll be doing September to November 2014:
If you spend any time thinking about your faith, you’re bound to come up with questions: some easy and some hard, some helpful and some troubling. During the fall we will be tackling together some of the hardest questions about the Christian faith and working to equip you with the tools you need to find answers on your own as well.
Don’t forget that Small Group changes back to the school year time slot (6:45-7:45 pm), and before that there’s a delicious Oasis dinner (starting at 6 pm), and before that there is After School: your chance to come over to Quail Holla when classes finish and hang out with your friends. See you there!
We’re still working on our ambitious summer web series (that might end up being an ongoing web series), so we’ll be splitting up our Sundays with filming and our new Youth Group theme: Life Together. The Church is not just a building, it’s a people and it’s been that way for a long, long time. Throughout the fall, we’ll be spending some time in the letters that Paul wrote to the various churches he oversaw, looking at his advice for how they should be believing and living and acting so they could be the Church. So, join us on Sundays from 4 to 6 pm to learn and play what it means to be the Body of Christ!
To start off the fall, we will be diving into Re:Form Traditions, a great series that will help us understand what it means to be part of the “Reformed” tradition and how that all came to be. Expect some hilarious videos and interesting discussion to round out the experience. After that we will be taking a look at a specific part of our Reformed tradition: the church calendar and all its holy days and eves and colors and celebrations and songs and customs and their equivalents that have made it into the everyday calendar. Find out what it all means and why we Christians love to remember and to celebrate and to party. Church School meets every Sunday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
We are going to be tackling so many questions that we need a handy guide to keep them all straight. Here you go:

When does all this stuff take place? Check out our calendar to find out!
Highschoolers and leaders from Quail Holla traveled down to New Orleans with the mission organization Son Servants this summer to share Christ’s love through a variety of mission projects: helping out schools, rebuilding a floor of a homeless men’s shelter, and painting. Below are pictures from our trip and below that you will find videos from the August 20th Mission Dinner where participants of the trip shared their experiences.
Below you’ll find footage from the Mission Dinner. Unfortunately the camera battery was low and died before we were finished.
Michael was off to college before the dinner so we recorded his thoughts before the dinner. Here’s what he had to say:
